Privacy Policy

Your selected images and PDFs are processed locally in your browser. The website may also use analytics and advertising services described in this policy.

Zero Server Uploads• Analytics & Advertising Disclosed• 100% Client-Side Processing

Our Privacy Commitment

Vexelloom's image and PDF tools are designed to process selected files locally in your browser. Image compression, background removal, OCR, PDF manipulation and format conversion use browser-based technologies rather than uploading those files to Vexelloom's file-processing servers.

This describes file contents processed by the tools; it does not mean the website collects no data. The web version also uses Google Analytics and may load Google AdSense in production. Those services can process technical and usage information as described below. Local file processing alone does not guarantee that every use of the service meets a particular organisation's legal obligations.

What Data We Collect

File contents the tools are designed not to collect:

  • Your images, photos, or PDF files
  • File metadata (EXIF, GPS, etc.)
  • The contents of images and PDFs selected for local processing

We may collect (web version only):

  • Website analytics information through Google Analytics, which may include device, browser, usage and approximate location information
  • Advertising-related information when Google AdSense or Google Ads conversion measurement is enabled
  • Optional user preferences stored locally in your browser (theme choice, etc.)

When using the browser extension, no analytics or tracking is used at all.

How Your Data Is Processed

All file processing happens exclusively on your device:

  • Image compression, conversion, and resizing: Using browser Canvas API and WebAssembly libraries
  • AI background removal: Neural network models run locally via ONNX Runtime Web
  • OCR text extraction: Tesseract.js executes entirely in your browser
  • PDF manipulation: PDF-lib processes documents client-side
  • SVG vectorization: ImageTracer.js traces bitmaps locally

You can verify this by opening your browser developer tools (F12) and monitoring the Network tab while using our tools. You will see zero outbound HTTP requests containing your file data. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads, and all tools will continue to function perfectly.

Data Storage and Retention

We do not store:

  • Any uploaded files on our servers
  • Processing history or logs
  • User accounts or profiles

Temporary browser storage:

  • Files exist only in your browser memory during processing
  • When you close the tab or refresh the page, all file data is immediately cleared
  • No persistent storage of your documents occurs

Third-Party Services

Web version:

  • Google Analytics: Used to measure website traffic and performance. Google may process technical and usage information, including device and approximate location signals.
  • Google AdSense: May display ads in production. Google may process device, usage and advertising information under its own terms and settings.
  • Google Ads conversion measurement: A conversion event is sent when the Google tag is available; review its configuration and consent settings.

Browser extension:

  • No third-party analytics or advertising services are used in the extension
  • The extension only loads necessary JavaScript libraries from CDNs for functionality

JavaScript libraries:

  • All processing libraries (Tesseract.js, ONNX Runtime, PDF-lib, etc.) are loaded from reputable CDNs or bundled with the application
  • These libraries run entirely client-side and do not transmit your data to external servers

Cookies and Local Storage

Web version:

  • Google Analytics may set analytics cookies; review the provider's current documentation and configure consent where required
  • Local storage may be used for theme preferences (light/dark mode)

Browser extension:

  • The extension does not load the web version's Google Analytics or advertising scripts
  • Extension storage (chrome.storage) is used only for user preferences like theme settings

Children's Privacy

Vexelloom does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. Since we do not collect any data, our service is inherently safe for users of all ages. Parents can confidently allow children to use our tools without privacy concerns.

International Data Transfers

Since no data is ever transmitted to our servers or stored by us, there are no international data transfers. All processing happens on your device, regardless of your location. This makes Vexelloom compliant with data sovereignty requirements in the UK, EU, US, and worldwide.

Your Privacy Rights

Because we do not collect or store your personal data, most data rights under GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy regulations do not apply. However:

  • Right to access: You have full access to your data at all times—it never leaves your device
  • Right to deletion: Your data is automatically deleted when you close the browser tab
  • Right to portability: You can download your processed files at any time
  • Right to object: Since no processing occurs on our servers, there is nothing to object to

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Given our zero-upload architecture, fundamental changes to how we handle data are unlikely, but we encourage you to review this policy periodically.

Privacy FAQ

Common questions about how we protect your data.

The selected file contents are processed locally in your browser, but the website may still send technical and usage information to analytics or advertising providers. Do not treat Vexelloom as a certified environment for medical, legal or other regulated information. Check your organisation's policies and obtain security and legal approval before using sensitive files.

Yes. After the initial page load, you can disconnect from the internet and all tools will continue to function. This is possible because all processing libraries run locally in your browser.

Whether a DPA is required depends on the data, the service arrangement and the roles of the parties. Local file processing may reduce the data shared with Vexelloom, but the website also uses analytics and may use advertising services. Review the Privacy Policy and obtain appropriate advice for your circumstances.

Processed files exist only in your browser memory and are automatically cleared when you close the tab or refresh the page. We cannot recover files that were not downloaded, as they were never stored on any server.

The extension has even stronger privacy protections. The web version loads Google Analytics and may load advertising scripts; the extension does not load those analytics or advertising scripts. Both versions process all data locally with zero uploads.
